This will be the final installment of the Chromatophores series for 2022 but will ABSOLUTELY not be the last. this is definitely some of my noisiest work yet from a mix of Aphex Twin's sample brain coming out, my newfound obsession with Baltimore breaks, and my attempts to emulate my favorite hardcore producer Noize Creator. All the tracks were written and assembled in Renoise as I've realized that I really love writing music in a way that makes me feel like an operator from the Matrix movies. That said, next release will definitely have more modular bits as I've been learning more about VCV Rack and started learning how to use the Cardinal VCV Rack plugin inside Renoise.

For animal samples I mostly used my field recorded spring peepers, leopard frogs, and crickets from the last two mixtapes, but discovered that running them through sample brain with some drum breaks and bass solos makes for some pretty crazy results. Also sampled my cat Layla and my video game cat from my favorite MMO so I could get in touch with my inner Venetian Snare. Now that I have my Master's from the frog research I was working on, I'm aiming to get a job where I can have more wildlife adventures and get more field recordings to sample.

2022 has been the first year I released multiple full-length projects. Thanks to all my online friends, my family, and all the awesome people who supported my tracks and live sets. Thanks to your support I was able to get some new music equipment and buy sample packs from great producers like Nyolfen, Kelbin, Tracey Brakes, and BIO that I used heavily on this and my previous two mixtapes.
